Description
The Proof Silver Eagle coin has a much lower mintage level than its bullion counterparts. The United States Mint, for more than a decade, tightly capped the mintage of the Proof American Silver Eagle coin to maintain demand. Today, the US Mint strikes the Proof Eagles to meet the demand of collectors. The 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coin is now available to you for purchase online from Wallace Precious Metals.

From 1995 to 2004, the United States Mint capped the mintage figure for the Proof Silver Eagle. In the initial years of availability, the US Mint responded to demand, but in the 1990s had seen sagging demand for the Proof Silver Eagle. In 2005, the US Mint finally removed mintage caps again after a decade of restrained mintage.
Since the 1986 introduction of the Silver Eagles, only 2009 saw the Proof Silver Eagle sidelined from production. In the midst of the Great Recession, the United States Mint redirected all silver blanks to the production of bullion coins as silver prices and demand skyrocketed. The US Mint is obligated by law to meet demand for production of bullion Silver Eagles, unlike the Proof Silver Eagle.
On the obverse of the 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle is the design of Walking Liberty. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this image was first used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947.
The reverse of all Proof American Silver Eagle Coins features the design of the heraldic eagle. Refined for this coin series by John Mercanti, the heraldic eagle features a bald eagle behind the national shield as it clutches arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other.
All 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagles in this issue are in PF70 condition. Coins in this condition are considered perfect, featuring full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws. The coins may also have random labels of UCAM or DCAM, which are reserved for proof coins with clear, mirrored background fields and strong, frosted design sets.
Wallace Precious Metals does not guarantee the year of issue youll receive, or the label included within the plastic slab. We guarantee only that the coins have a PF70 grade. The exact coin you receive is determined by availability in our warehouse when your order is prepared for shipment.
