From 1979 to 1982, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf consisted only of a 1 oz coin. Fractional weights were initially introduced in November 1982 following an increase in the gold content of the coins.

Introduced in 2003, this design from Susanna Blunt is just the second of a monarch completed by a Canadian artist and the first since Elizabeth IIs father to depict the monarch without a crown.
On the reverse of 2019 Canadian Gold Maple Leafs is the image of the sugar maple leaf. Based upon the original 1979 from Walter Ott, this image beautifully captures the natural details of the national symbol of Canada.
