The expansion of the Mexican Silver Libertad collection launched in 1991. There were four fractional-weight coins introduced in 1991 that included a 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz coin. The 1996 issue year brought the latest expansion with the 2 oz silver coin and these 5 oz Mexican Silver Libertad coins.
All of these 2019 5 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are available to purchase from Wallace Precious Metals in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are housed inside of protective plastic packaging or within mint tubes of 5 coins each. Mexican Silver Libertad coins have much lower mintage figures than their major bullion counterparts, including other North American coins like the American Silver Eagle and the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf.
On the obverse side of 2019 Silver Libertad Coins is the design of Winged Victory. The design field here is very intricate and includes a number of important symbols. In the distant background are two mountain peaks. Located outside of Mexico City, the peaks of Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl are volcanic mountains that remain active and get their names from a pair of ancient Aztec lovers.
The Mexican Mints OM mint mark is found on this side of the coin, along with engravings of the weight, purity, and metal content. Winged Victory is, however, the primary design element the eye focuses on. Her left-profile figure reaches high into the sky with a wreath crown while her other hand holds broken chains of servitude.
2019 5 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins have a design used only on the 1 oz and larger coins in the series. This includes the modern coat of arms in the center, with an eagle wrestling a serpent on the arm of a cactus. Immediately around the coat of arms is the engraving of the national name in Spanish and a wreath ribbon. Around the outer design field, youll notice the 10 historic versions of the same seal.
