(Wallace Refiners) – Russia’s Nornickel, the world’s largest producer of palladium and high-grade nickel, announced today that it has sold 100% of Nordstar to the airline’s management.
The company said that in the current situation, Nornickel is focusing on its core business — the production and sale of base and precious metals.
Nordstar Airlines is among Russia’s largest air carriers, transporting more than 1 million passengers annually. Its home airports are Domodedovo (Moscow) and Krasnoyarsk.
In 2021, Nordstar became the base passenger carrier at Norilsk Airport. This status provides for the creation of a stable schedule and the establishment of year-end fare ceilings for flights to/from Norilsk.
Norilsk Nickel is a diversified mining and metallurgical company, the world’s largest producer of palladium and high-grade nickel and a major producer of platinum and copper. The company also produces cobalt, rhodium, silver, gold, iridium, ruthenium, selenium, tellurium, sulphur and other products.
